TEK Babies...What in the World is a TEK Baby?

Charity LoveAliveInternational

“We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives.
It's time for us to more than just survive.
We were made to THRIVE.”
As I write this, I'm sitting at a children’s spring concert.  My illustrious and talented niece (and her class) just sang Jesus was a Teacher & Bill Grogan’s Goat.  What a combination.  All I know is that my niece is going to use a line from the song on us someday.  "Jesus didn't give any tests".  After she finished, I made my way out to the lobby to work on this.  So as I write I'm hearing singing in the background.

“Them bones, them bones, them dry bones. - so hear the word of the Lord!”

How appropriate now that I think about it because what I want to tell you about today is what we have accomplished in the lives of kids, and for that matter kids in school!

“This old man he played one …..
Knick knack paddy whack give your dog a bone... this old man came rolling home.”

We were able to sponsor 6 beautiful children to go to school in Rwanda.  I call these kids my TEK Babies because I was able to get the sponsorship for 4 of the kids in one afternoon from having a sale at TEK’s office.

I'd like to introduce these kids to you.  I will not use their names to protect their privacy, but I'll show you their pictures.  I'm so grateful to you all for helping make this happen.  I hope that this year in Rwanda these kids are singing joyful fun songs and songs of praise to God like they are here at the school I'm sitting in now.

"God, we thirst for more of You
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide.”
I can't believe those are the words that God chose for me to be hearing right now to introduce you to these adorable kids.  They are a gift to this world and you have helped them more than just survive.  Laura, from Love Alive International, with God’s help, will help them THRIVE.

“Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable, love unstoppable, anything is possible.”

So I have a dilemma.  I can continue to shift from charity to charity or I can slow down and make sure that we get these beautiful kids back in school next year.

“Start a fire in my soul, fan the flame and make it grow
Let it burn so brightly that everyone around can see
that it's YOU that we need.”

So for the foreseeable future we will be raising money to keep these little angels in school.  I can’t really bear the thought of them going this year and then the disappointment of not being able to go next year… oh dear did I just sign up to keep kids in school thru college?!?!  Ha…we shall see.

“Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Clean and bright - you look happy to meet me…..
bloom and grow…Bless my homeland forever”
(gosh these girls sounds great… the kids are ever increasing in age at this concert)

“If blue birds fly over the rainbow, why, oh why can’t I”
“I hear those angels telling me
Children keep in the middle of the road”

So in order for there to be more doctors, teachers, dancers and drivers we need them to stay in school (because with my driving record, I have to confess that I can’t even help out with that  profession).   Even after my class at the health club in Urban Groove…dancing is out of the question.

“Good Father show me the way”

Even though I sang alto in choir in high school and do still sputter it out at church singing with the congregation, singing is not something I can teach either.

“This train is bound for glory, this train”

The program is over so I need to wrap this up.  To Romeoville Christian School very well done!  But I do still think that Lauren in first grade was the best. :)

“I’ve got a home on the other side”

So, shop for jewelry so we can send these Little Gems back to school next year.
